IGN Review: AI Limit - Lackluster Soulslike Game in Sci-Fi World

In this review, IGN delves into the world of AI Limit, a lackluster Soulslike game that fails to ignite the thrill of the genre. Set in a sci-fi universe plagued by a mysterious black mud, players assume the role of a blader android tasked with mindlessly restoring balance through relentless slaughter. However, the game falls short with its unoriginal enemies, simplistic combat mechanics, and frequent technical issues like crashes and bugs that disrupt the already tepid gameplay experience.
One of the few sparks of innovation in AI Limit is the introduction of the sink rate mechanic, which rewards cautious gameplay by draining when taking hits or casting spells. Despite attempts at fresh ideas like freely swappable special powers, the combat encounters lack depth and excitement due to a dearth of enemy variety. Boss fights, characterized by predictability and recycled designs, offer little challenge, with only occasional engaging battles against fellow bladers providing fleeting moments of respite from the monotony.
Unfortunately, AI Limit's potential is marred by its significant bugs and crashes, leading to frustrating experiences for players. The game's lack of difficulty and repetitive gameplay loop of slashing through uninspired foes in uninspiring locations ultimately fail to deliver the adrenaline-fueled rush synonymous with the Soulslike genre. While the stylish art style and unique mechanics attempt to inject some life into the game, they ultimately fall short of salvaging AI Limit from its status as a forgettable and underwhelming addition to the genre.
